Smooth, fuzz-free, glowing skin — in 30 minutes.
Dermaplaning uses a sterile surgical blade to gently scrape off dead skin cells and peach fuzz (vellus hair) from the surface of the skin. At DaVida Medical Aesthetics in San Antonio, this 30-minute treatment reveals fresh, smooth skin underneath, allows products to absorb meaningfully better, and creates the perfect canvas for makeup. Clients who try it once typically come back monthly.
Why people reach for it
Vellus hair (the fine, soft 'peach fuzz' on the face) traps oil and product and dulls light reflection. Removing it instantly reveals smoother, brighter skin and creates a flawless makeup canvas.
Beyond hair removal, dermaplaning physically scrapes away dead skin cells — meaning brighter skin tone, smoother texture, and better-looking skin from the very first treatment.
With dead skin and peach fuzz gone, your serums, retinols, and treatments penetrate meaningfully more effectively — boosting the value of every product in your routine.
No redness, no flaking, no recovery. Walk in, get your treatment, walk out smooth and glowing. Perfect before special events or anytime you want a quick refresh.
Who it's for
Dermaplaning is the right pick for:
Why it works
Medical-grade single-use blade designed specifically for dermaplaning — held at the precise angle to safely remove peach fuzz and dead skin without cutting healthy tissue.
Performed by trained aestheticians using a precise, controlled motion across the entire face. The technique matters — improper dermaplaning can irritate skin, while professional dermaplaning is gentle and effective.
The peach fuzz removed by dermaplaning is vellus hair — fine, soft hair that grows back the same texture and color it was before. It does NOT grow back darker, thicker, or coarser, contrary to a common myth.
Pure mechanical exfoliation — no acids, no lasers, no thermal damage. Ideal for clients with chemical sensitivities, rosacea-prone skin, or those building tolerance to actives gradually.

Common questions
How much does dermaplaning cost in San Antonio?
At DaVida, a single dermaplaning treatment is $65, with a 3-treatment package available for $180 (save $15). Most clients do dermaplaning monthly once they try it — the smoothness becomes addictive.
Will my peach fuzz grow back darker or thicker?
No. Peach fuzz (vellus hair) grows back the same texture, color, and thickness it was before — this is a persistent myth, but it's not true. Vellus hair is structurally different from terminal hair (the kind on your scalp or eyebrows), and dermaplaning doesn't change that. You'll grow back the same fuzz that was there before.
Dermaplaning vs microdermabrasion — which is better?
Both are excellent and we offer them at the same price ($65). Microdermabrasion uses a diamond tip to abrade dead skin; dermaplaning uses a blade to scrape dead skin AND remove peach fuzz. The peach fuzz removal is what differentiates dermaplaning. Many of our clients alternate — microderm one month, dermaplaning the next — for variety.
Is dermaplaning safe?
When done by a trained professional, dermaplaning is very safe — using a medical-grade single-use blade, sterile technique, and proper angle. The risks of at-home or untrained dermaplaning (cuts, irritation, infection) are why we recommend only professional treatments.
How often can I do dermaplaning?
Once a month is the ideal cadence for most skin. Going more frequently (every 2 weeks) can over-exfoliate the skin barrier and lead to sensitivity. Less frequently (every 6–8 weeks) is fine but the smoothness benefits will fade between treatments.
Can I dermaplane if I have acne?
Active inflammatory acne is generally not appropriate for dermaplaning — the blade can spread bacteria and aggravate breakouts. For clients with mild congestion or post-acne marks (no active breakouts), dermaplaning is a great fit. We assess at consultation.
"Dermaplaning is the treatment our clients become loyal to fastest. The first time you feel how smooth your skin is after, you'll book the next appointment before leaving. Monthly dermaplaning is one of the best low-investment, high-impact additions to any routine."
