Skin Cancer Screening · $150

Essential annual screening for skin cancer and suspicious lesions.

By age 65, roughly 1 in 2 Americans will develop some form of skin cancer — and early detection makes a massive difference: melanoma caught early has a 99% five-year survival rate. At DaVida Medical Aesthetics in San Antonio, our full body skin exam is a thorough, professional check-up designed to identify suspicious lesions early, document existing moles for future comparison, and give you peace of mind.

Why people reach for it

Early detection saves lives

99% five-year survival rate when melanoma is detected early — that drops to 32% if caught after it spreads. Annual screening is the single best skin cancer prevention behavior available.

Comprehensive full body check

Our exam covers your scalp, face, neck, torso, back, arms, hands, legs, and feet — every area where skin cancer can develop, including spots you can't easily see yourself.

Professional documentation

We document existing moles and notable lesions during the exam, creating a baseline for comparison during future visits — the gold standard for catching subtle changes early.

Direct dermatology referrals

If we identify any suspicious lesion that warrants biopsy or specialist evaluation, we provide a direct referral to a trusted local dermatologist for follow-up.

Who it's for

Annual skin exams are essential for everyone, especially:

Annual screening Family history of melanoma Significant sun exposure History of sunburns Many moles Atypical moles Fair skin Outdoor occupations Post-50 maintenance New or changing spots

Why it works

Visual head-to-toe examination

Comprehensive visual inspection of your entire skin surface — every spot, mole, lesion, and growth gets a careful look using clinical lighting and magnification when needed.

ABCDE evaluation

Every notable lesion is evaluated using the ABCDE criteria — Asymmetry, Border irregularity, Color variation, Diameter, and Evolving changes — the dermatology gold standard for identifying potential melanoma.

Documentation for future comparison

We note location, size, and characteristics of any concerning or atypical lesions — establishing a baseline so we can identify any subtle changes at your next exam.

Risk-factor counseling

Beyond the exam, we discuss your individual risk factors and recommend a personalized screening cadence — annual, semi-annual, or more frequent based on your history.

What to expect

During the Exam
  1. Brief consultation about personal/family skin cancer history
  2. Change into a gown; full visual examination begins
  3. Each spot evaluated using clinical criteria; documentation as needed
  4. Risk discussion and recommended screening cadence
After the Exam
  1. Reassurance and observation plan for benign findings
  2. Direct referral to dermatologist for any suspicious lesions
  3. Annual return for re-screening (or 6-month follow-up if elevated risk)
  4. Self-exam guidance for monitoring between visits

Common questions

How much does a full body skin exam cost in San Antonio?

At DaVida, a full body skin exam is $150. Most clients schedule annually, making it a meaningful but very accessible investment in skin cancer prevention. Some clients with elevated risk schedule semi-annually.

How often should I get a skin exam?

Annual screening is the standard recommendation for adults — that's what dermatology professional societies recommend. Clients with elevated risk (family history of melanoma, many atypical moles, significant sun exposure history) should consider semi-annual exams. Anyone noticing a new, changing, or concerning spot should come in immediately, regardless of when their last exam was.

What does the exam cover?

Every area of your skin where cancer can develop: scalp, face, neck, ears, torso (front and back), arms, hands, legs, feet, and intertriginous areas (skin folds). We look at moles, freckles, lesions, growths, and any spot that's changed. The exam takes 20–30 minutes for a typical adult.

What happens if you find something suspicious?

If we identify a lesion that warrants biopsy or specialist evaluation, we provide a direct referral to a trusted local dermatologist. We don't perform biopsies in our office — that's outside our scope — but we make sure you get to the right specialist quickly. Most suspicious findings turn out to be benign; the value of the exam is in catching the few that aren't, early.

Should I do anything to prepare?

Come with no makeup, freshly cleansed skin, and a list of any new or changing spots you've noticed. We'll provide a gown — wear comfortable clothing that's easy to change in and out of. If you have a partner who can help check the areas you can't see yourself between visits, we can include simple guidance for them too.

Why our team loves it

"The most important treatment we offer doesn't show up on a before-and-after. Annual skin exams are the single best preventative skincare investment any client can make — and the peace of mind alone is worth the visit."
